This is not a comfortable job. You'll hear "no" more than you hear "yes." The product is technical. The buyers are skeptical. The playbook is still being written - by you. If that sounds exhausting, it probably is. If it sounds exciting, keep reading.
We're Tembo. We build AI background agents that do the work engineering teams hate: PR reviews, bug triage, documentation updates, ticket management. The kind of work that's important but nobody wants to own. We've built deep integrations into GitHub, Slack, Sentry, Linear, and Jira and we're growing fast. We need someone to open doors.
What you'll do
- -Own outbound pipeline from scratch - cold email, calls, LinkedIn, and creative sequences. Nobody hands you leads here.
- -Research target accounts and find the right entry point: CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and technical leads at companies where engineering velocity is everything.
- -Run first-touch discovery calls that go beyond qualification. Understand how their team ships, what's slowing them down, and whether Tembo fits.
- -Hand off warm, well-qualified opportunities to our sales team and stay looped in as deals develop.
- -Bring signal back to the team: what messaging lands, what objections repeat, and what the market is telling us.
- -Attend in-person events and represent Tembo in the field with customers, prospects, and the broader engineering community.
- -Help shape the SDR playbook. You're early. What you build here matters.
You might be right for this if
- -You have 2-3 years in a sales or customer-facing role. SDR/BDR experience at a SaaS or developer tools company is a real plus.
- -You're technically curious and can hold a real conversation with an engineer.
- -You write clearly and know how to tailor a message to a technical audience.
- -You're resilient. Rejection recalibrates you more than it discourages you.
- -You want to grow into an AE role and understand that the reps you put in now are the foundation.
- -You're organized and data-driven - you track what you're doing and learn from it.
- -You're comfortable showing up in person at events and confidently representing Tembo.
Bonus points
- -Experience building GTM automations or using Claude Code is a major plus.
- -Strong in-person charisma and high EQ.
- -Obsession with stochastic games like poker.
The stack
- -Amplemarket, Clay, Attio, and a custom pipeline intelligence dashboard we've built internally
